Results of the analysis of empirical relationships between biophysical parameters of forest stand (age, height and diameter) and their spectral reflective properties are stated. Object of research - forest stands of the Belgorod area with oak as dominant (forest forming) species. Research is spent on the basis of the data collected with 1500 Forest taxation apportionment from which the information is processed and analysed and spectral reflective properties are studied. Reflective properties of stands are estimated based on multispectral satellite imagery from the LANDSAT TM and expressed as coefficients of spectral brightness (reflectance) and spectral indices. Established empirical relationships have a form close to linear. Results of mapping biophysical parameters of forest on the basis of their spectral reflective properties are presented.
Keywords: parameters of forest stands, remote sensing, reflectance, spectral vegetation indices, regression analysis
