Automatic calculation of movement velocities of sea ice fields

An advanced method of maximum of cross-correlations for automatic calculation of sea ice movement on a set of NOA/AVHRR images is proposed. Improvement consists in the use of an aprioristic estimation of calculation accuracy. For this purpose the autocorrelation functions of brightness of two templates corresponded to a velocity estimated is analyzed. The testing realized has shown more high accuracy and productivity of the new method. A samples are considered of new method use for sea surface velocity estimations. The ways of the method improvement are considered too.
