Software package for thematic processing of target information from “Meteor-M” satellite

The article discusses the capabilities of the software package PlanetaMeteor which is used in the State Research Center "Planeta" for initial and thematic processing of information received from sensors MSU-MR and KMSS of the satellite "Meteor-M" No. 1. This software provides processing of the information received in centimeter, decimeter and meter radio bands. The article describes MSU-MR and KMSS data representation features and processing tasks. Functions performed during initial data processing such as radiometric correction and geocoding of the imagery data are briefly discussed. The new features of visualization of multicycle imagery routes in 2D and 3D modes are described. The article includes examples of information products (temperature maps, clouds altitude maps, global and regional clouds maps) obtained as a result of thematic processing of satellite data. A new type of processing level 1D products obtained by a digital combination of data received from different types of sensors is described. The perspectives of PlanetaMeteor software capabilities extension to process data from satellite constellation of "Meteor-M" series are discussed. The information about the main stages of on-ground processing of information from MSU-MR and KMSS sensors installed on satellite "Meteor-M" No. 1 is given as well as types of resulting information products derived by PlanetaMeteor.
