The techniques are developed to utilize fields of satellite-derived estimates of vegetation and snow cover characteristics and land surface temperature in the models of vertical water and heat transfer in the "soil-vegetation/snow cover-atmosphere" system (SVAT and SSNAT) intended for calculating water and heat balance components as well as soil and snow temperatures. Named satellite-based estimates are built with the help of developed technologies for thematic processing measurement data of AVHRR/NOAA, MODIS/EOS Terra and Aqua, AMSR-E/EOS Aqua and SEVIRI/Meteosat-9. The results are presented of modeling vertical water and heat fluxes, soil and snow cover water and heat content, land surface and soil temperatures for land area of the Central Black Earth zone of European Russia with square 227300 km2 for vegetation seasons 2003-2010.
Keywords: modeling water and heat balance components, satellite data, land surface, spatial variability of vegetation and snow cover characteristics
