Comparison of two threshold methods for cloud cover parameters estimation using SEVIRI/METEOSAT-9 data

Two automatic pixel-by-pixel threshold methods (EUMETSAT and advanced classification "Planeta") using SEVIRI/ METEOSAT-9 data and providing the estimation of cloud parameters (cloud mask, cloud analysis, cloud top height) are compared. The comparison estimations for each derived cloud parameter carried out on the archive of synchronous satellite and ground-based meteorological data for 2009-2010 are discussed.
