We present the design and early results of evalutaion of an information system for operational monitoring of the environment that is being developed by the authors. The monitoring is based on online processing of remote sensing data from several satellite platforms including TERRA/AQUA and SPOT2/SPOT4. The core of the system is a satellite data processing facility. The scope of monitoring includes a large part of the territory of Siberia.
