An experimental assessment of crop types recognisability using time-series of intra-seasonal spectral reflectance measurements by satellite sensor

The article describes results of the study focused on assessment of possibilities to recognise multiple crop types based on measurements of intra-seasonal spectral reflectance values using the satellite spectroradiometer Terra-MODIS. The comparative analysis of the crop types separability has been performed on the base of the phase space of Red and NIR spectral channels of MODIS along with perpendicular vegetation index (PVI) seasonal time-series. Crops recognition accuracy is estimated depending on duration and frequency of regular satellite observations.
