Satellite Service for Vegetation Monitoring VEGA

Satellite data today are the most perspective source of operative retrieval of precise information on the crop status as well as on the status of natural vegetation. Existing satellite technologies give possibilities for creating systems of operative crop and vegetation monitoring within large areas. The article is devoted to description of service designed for analysis of crops on any agricultural plot or on any plot of natural vegetation in Russia. The analysis is based on comparison of the NDVI time profile for the current season with the profiles from the previous seasons or with longterm average profile. The NDVI is calculated on the basis of specially designed archive of pre-processed daily MODIS data since 2000 up to now. The information on the service is updates weekly.
