Using GIS and RS for mapping og geology-geomorphological objects of Chuya hollow by space images of middle resolution

The article is devoted to using of space images of MODIS, Landsat, and also the digital elevation models on the
base of SRTM data for mapping of quaternary deposits and relief on the example of Ghuya hollow in Gorny Altai.
The complex Gis and RS technology, including development and creation of multidisciplinary geodatabases with
the characteristics of relief, geology, soils and vegetation of typical natural-territorial complexes is considered. For
revealing the areas of distribution and extents of heterogeneous geology-geomorphologic contours of polygenetic
nature, the construction of density maps was applied. Analysis of spectral characteristics of mapping objects is conducted
on low and middle levels of spatial resolution, that allows to reveal regularities of generalization of spectral
and morphometrical characteristics. The developed complex technology allows to reveal such geologygeomorphologic
regularities, which not always fixes by natural investigation on the Earth surface.
