The satellite data on forest fires, data of ground-base observations and data of Avialesokhrana were explored. Seasonal
variations of events for some typical regions of Yakutia were analyzed. It is shown the forest fires caused by
thunderbolts occur near boundaries of thunderstorm activity region after several days. The positive lightings ignite
the forest fires, because electric current in them at the average twice it is more than in negative lightings.
Keywords: forest fire, remote sensing, positive thunderbolt, thunderstorm activity, population density
