Circulation of the Ussuri and Peter The Great Bays, Sea of Japan, was studied using direct observations. It is shown,
that the water filled the Ussuri Bay originated from the mesoscale eddy at the continental shelf. Submesoscale
streamers are the major source for water of the Bay. Significant warming is established due to penetration of these
warm submesoscale streamers. It is shown, that cyclonic circulation develops at the front of the mesoscale eddy.
This cyclones associated with downwelling at the sheld break.
Keywords: coastal ecosystem, Ussuri Bay, submesoscale cyclones
