The advanced threshold method for automatic pixel-by-pixel classification of SEVIRI/ METEOSAT-9 data has been
developed that provides the estimation of cloud parameters as well as detection of precipitation zones together with
some severe weather phenomena of various intensity for day and night time. The training and testing of the proposed
technique have been carried out using the archive of synchronous satellite and ground-based meteorological
data for the various dates of years 2006-2009. The validation results for each of derived cloud parameters are discussed.
