Specific and geography of long-term vegetation dynamics in North-Eastern Eurasia was investigated
based on GIMMS NOAA AVHRR archive data for the period 1981-2006. The following parameters
were selected for the vegetation dynamics characterization: date of the beginning of the vegetative
season, date of the end of the vegetative season, duration of the vegetative season, date of the NDVI
seasonal maximum, NDVI seasonal maximum value, and seasonal photosynthetic potential of the
vegetation. Correlation analysis between vegetation parameters dynamics and seasonal average Sun spot
area has demonstrated presence of statistically significant correlation for all main vegetation types of the
region. Each type of vegetation is characterized by its own specific of spatial distribution, value and sign
of the correlation coefficient. The probability of direct or indirect (throughout climate) effect of solar
activity fluctuation on the vegetation dynamics was investigated.
