Trial localization of dynamical/thermal fronts in the Japan and Okhotsk Seas by satellite altimeter data

Based on satellite altimeter data, the level change rates are calculated from the integral continuity
equation for full flux divergence. A frontal zone is a convergence zone (increasing rate of the level
change), but a front is a maximum convergence contour. Inter-year and seasonal variability of the
position and intensity of frontal zones in the Japan and Okhotsk Seas is discussed.
