Methods of the certified test of the digital elevation models
based on Earth remote sensing data

Types of the Earth remote sensing data and their accuracy properties as the main sources spatial data
about relief are considered. Requirements of digital elevation model (DEM), recommended International
Civil Aviation Organization for use on aircrafts, are described. Leading role of radar data in forming of
DEM for region 1 and 2 in accordance with categorization of the zonal navigation is determined. The list
of normative documents, allowing develop the program and procedure of the certified test DEM, Is motivated.
