The quality of satellite images is a crucial indicator for high precision surveys of various objects using spacecraft. Increasing demand on satellite imagery resolution prompts the search for ways to improve image quality. This may be related with improvements in target equipment, as well as provision of more favorable operating conditions. The capabilities of modern target equipment are far from exhausted. Meanwhile, survey conditions can be improved both through more efficient control laws and by vibration isolation of sensitive target equipment. The paper analyzes improvement in quality of an image obtained from a small Earth observation satellite with vibration isolation of the target equipment. The paper considers a small satellite whose design and layout includes large elastic structural elements, such as solar panels. Natural vibration of the elastic elements contributes to deterioration of the quality of obtained images. One way to mitigate the impact of the disturbances on image quality is to use vibration isolating devices and mount the target equipment on them. The paper evaluates the effectiveness of this approach using the Aist-2D small satellite as an example. These results can be used in the design of future small remote sensing satellites.
Keywords: vibration protection device, vibration isolation of target equipment, small spacecraft for remote sensing of the Earth, image quality
