The study investigates the spatiotemporal dynamics of forest fires in the Republic of Tyva from 2015 to 2024. Utilizing the Landsat satellite imagery archive and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform, a wildfire map accounting for terrain features was created. Quantitative results revealed that the annual burned area varied from 1795 to 100631 hectares, showing pronounced peaks in activity in extremely hot years and consistent spatial patterns in fire occurrence. A key finding was the identification of a clear dependence of fire activity on elevation and slope aspect. Analysis of burned areas across five elevation zones (500–1000, 1001–1300, 1301–1700, 1701–2200 and 2201 m above sea level and more) revealed patterns characteristic of mountain landscapes: the largest burned areas were recorded in the 1301–1700-m and 1701–2200-m intervals, as well as on north- and west-facing slopes. Seasonal analysis confirmed that peak fire activity occurs during the summer period. For comparison, data from two eastern forest districts, which contain the majority of the republic's forest stock, and two southern districts located in the mountainous zone were used. The obtained results enhance the understanding of natural factors controlling the spreading of forest fires over complex terrain and can serve as a basis for developing effective strategies for fire monitoring, forecasting, and prevention.
