This brief report summarizes the key outcomes of the IX All-Russia (with International Participation) Scientific Conference “Aerospace Methods and Geoinformation Technologies in Forest Science, Forestry and Ecology”. The conference was held April 15–17, 2025, in Moscow at Isaev Center for Forest Ecology and Productivity RAS with organizational support from Space Research Institute RAS. The conference was attended about 130 participants from scientific, industrial, and educational organizations in Russia, Belarus and Azerbaijan. Sixty papers were presented on key research areas involving the use of remote sensing and GIS technologies in forest science, forestry and ecology. Plenary papers focused on the analysis of current large-scale changes in Russian forests at the national and regional levels, forest fire monitoring, assessment of direct pyrogenic carbon emissions in forests, and the causes of forest insect outbreaks. The problems of abandoned agricultural lands in Russia and the need for annual monitoring of the extent of their forest overgrowth were highlighted. The conference’s sectional presentations focused on the results of advanced research using optical aerial imagery from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and airborne and terrestrial laser scanning to assess forest characteristics and productivity. Based on the conference results, a collection of abstracts was prepared in electronic format and posted on the eLIBRARY.RU website. All information about the Ninth All-Russia Scientific Conference (program, collection of materials, video broadcasts of plenary and sectional sessions, and paper presentations) is available at https://cepl.rssi.ru/confs/ASGIS2025/.
Keywords: scientific conference, satellite and ground-based data on forests, resource potential and characteristics of forests, Earth remote sensing data, geoinformation technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles, airborne laser scanning
