The article presents the first results of analysis of satellite radar and optical images of the northeastern part of the Black Sea where an oil spill occurred on August 29, 2025 during refueling of the T. Semahat Turkish tanker at Single Point Mooring No. 2 of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium-R marine terminal near the village of Yuzhnaya Ozereyevka close to Novorossiysk. The article provides estimates of the size, area and volume of oil pollution based on satellite images of August 29, 30 and September 1, 2, 4, 2025, and discusses possible mechanisms and direction of the oil spill spreading across the studied water area.
