The article presents the results of the analysis of winter crops state in the autumn-winter period of 2024. It is noted that in many regions of the European part of Russia drought conditions were observed during the autumn sowing campaign. This was the reason that significant areas of winter crops were in an unsatisfactory condition. Maps of winter crops detected based on satellite observations in autumn 2024 and previous years are provided. It is shown that the areas of winter crops identified in 2024 in many regions of the Central, Volga, Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts, as well as in new regions, were at a much lower level than the areas detected in autumn of the last five years.
