Operation control system of the IKI-Monitoring distributed hardware and software complex

Modern systems for remote sensing data and processing results access are sophisticated, geographically distributed hardware-software complexes consisting of many dozens of automatically operating computers. The IKI-Monitoring Center for Collective Use of systems for archiving, processing and analyzing satellite data at IKI RAS (http://ckp.geosmis.ru/), created in 2012, is certainly one of such sophisticated complexes. Stable and quality operation of the hardware and software system requires multi-level control of all its components, from individual programs to entire software subsystems, prompt notification of experts about system malfunction cases and their elimination process tracking. To solve these problems, the IKI RAS Department of Satellite Monitoring Technologies has developed a multi-component system to control the functioning of the hardware-software complex (HSC) of the IKI Monitoring. The paper provides brief information on the HSC implementation, followed by its operation control main problems analysis. Next, the software components designed for highlighted problems solution are briefly described. In conclusion, further development trends of the system are discussed.
