The report shows the results of assessment of the Tsimlyansk, Krasnodar and Simferopol reservoirs areas in 2020. Due to the unfavorable hydrometeorological situation and decrease of the runoff of the Don, Kuban and Crimean rivers, record low levels of filling of these reservoirs were recorded in 2020. The area of the Tsimlyansk reservoir decreased in comparison with the design one by almost 700 km2, and the areas of the Krasnodar and Simferopol reservoirs decreased 2 and 4 times. Satellite monitoring of the mirror of various natural and artificial water reservoirs should become an addition to traditional observations at hydrological posts.
