Transport and technical forensic examinations are one of the methods of establishing the circumstances in the detection and investigation of crimes against traffic safety and operation of transport or the commission of certain transport accidents. The lack of methodological, as well as insufficient development of theoretical and practical issues in the production of transport and technical forensic examinations not only negatively affects the development of this direction in the activities of law enforcement agencies, but also causes investigators and the court to often raise legal issues with experts. In the future, this can lead to unjustified refusal to initiate criminal proceedings, superficial investigation, and as a result, unjustified sentences. When we examined the expert opinions of all genera, it was found that when they were appointed, investigators sent to the experts case files, which had various information related to the transport incident. It appears that in addition to vehicles, communication routes, means of regulating the movement of vehicles, various documents on the technical operation of the vehicle, its technical condition, etc., remote sensing images can be presented to the expert showing the scene of the incident (for example, the crash of an aircraft). The paper gives positive examples of the use of space imagery in the investigation of crimes suggesting that they can help analyze in detail the scene of a transport accident and solve certain tasks in the framework of the production of transport and technical forensic expertise.
