The paper analyzes the experience of applying geographic information technologies in the development of landscape-inventory maps of hard-to-reach territories of selected specially protected nature reserves and regions of Khabarovsk Territory and Far East. Such maps reflect the combination of interacting components and spatial elements of the natural environment in its full complexity. They should form the spatial basis for environmental monitoring systems and economic planning. However, mapping of many regions of Far East and Siberia is a very labor-intensive process and requires large investments due to weak study and difficult access to the territory. The circumstances and capacities of using Earth remote sensing data, digital terrain models and their derivatives in combination with aerial photography of key areas to improve the accuracy and relevance of cartographic materials are considered. It is shown that the use of decoding methods of aerial photography data from unmanned aerial vehicles (DJI Phantom 4) in combination with the medium-resolution remote sensing data (Sentinel-2), materials of expeditionary work and available literature data make it possible to effectively create a landscape-inventory map of the work area in relatively short term. The developed map can serve as the information-cartographic basis for the strategic and operational planning of territory monitoring and protection.
