The advantages of using the capabilities of the Unified Geographically Distributed Information System of Earth Remote Sensing from space (UGDIS ERS), which is the basis of the domestic terrestrial space infrastructure, in the creation of advanced space systems are presented. The topology of UGDIS ERS and directions of its modernization and development are described. The requirements for processing space imagery data and the quality of output information products, the problems of modern complexes of processing, the ways of creating the technology of data processing in UGDIS ERS are discussed. The method of distributed information processing is proposed; its advantages over existing methods and means, as well as the effectiveness of its practical application are described. The description of the services of UGDIS ERS in order to obtain operational access to space data and processing products based on them is given. The main directions of development of technologies and services of UGDIS ERS in the near future are formulated. Within the framework of UGDIS ERS, it is proposed to create and use a unified information processing complex with spacecrafts of optical-electronic and radar purpose, functioning on a single set of hardware. The possibility for users to create their own commercial projects and GIS applications using high-tech information resources of UGDIS ERS (https://gptl.ru) is described.
