Principles of development and structure of a multi-purpose classifier for thematic applications of remote sensing data

The relevance of the topic is determined by the necessity to generalize and systematize the list of thematic applications of remote sensing data in the conditions of the growing information flow from the Earth remote sensing constellations. The article describes the work aimed at the development of the structure of multi-purpose classifier of thematic applications that corresponds to the principles of adaptability, inclusiveness, and meets the requirements of the widest possible range of users and developers in the field of remote sensing. To achieve the goal, approaches and methods used in existing classifiers were analyzed, as well as the principal requirements put forward to the classifier by specific groups of users. As a result of the work, the choice of the object-oriented approach to the classification system was substantiated, the main parameters of the thematic applications were defined and classification systems for each of them were developed, basic requirements to the classifier functioning and its software implementation in the form of a client-server web application are described. The results of the work will be used in the development of a software implementation of the multi-purpose classifier for thematic applications of remote sensing data. The materials of the article can be useful in the development of multi-purpose classifiers for technologies that are not related to remote sensing.
