Opening of the Master’s Program in Methods and Technologies of Remote Sensing of the Earth at the Faculty of Space Research MSU

In recent years, the task of training specialists able to develop new methods and technologies for remote monitoring as well as to maintain and develop existing systems, and in particular specialists with skills in new priority technologies for development of complex distributed information systems, has become crucial. The report concerns opening of the Faculty of Space Research in M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), the main focus of which will be training of qualified staff for research, space experiments and effective use of results of space activities for solution of actual applied problems. Specialists majoring in Methods and Technologies of Remote Sensing of the Earth will study at the corresponding department of the faculty. The objectives of the department's program stem from the mission of the faculty to train specialists able to both conduct scientific research and solve various applied problems, including development of new methods, technologies and systems, providing the possibility to obtain and use up-to-date objective information about various processes and phenomena. The report describes the purpose of the launch of the program, its main objectives and approaches to them. The prospects for development of the program are discussed in the report.
