Mini unmanned aerial vehicles (MUAV) used in Earth remote sensing have limited energy resources. Their wide use is constrained by the difficulty of video data transmission in a real time mode. Video data can be represented as sequences of still image frames being high resolution digital images. Using the known methods of compression of video sequences on board MUAV to reduce the time of transmission is impractical because of restricted energy resources. In this paper, a method to reduce video sequences transmission time is suggested. This method consists in uniting N neighbouring frames of video sequence on board MUAV without computing operations and using multiposition phase-shift keyed (MPSK) signals for transmission of video sequences over radio waves. Thus, the transmission time is reduced N times. A disadvantage of MPSK signals is the decrease of receiving noise stability by 3 dB at each division of a phase of MPSK signals in half. A method of compensation of noise stability losses of MPSK signals receiving is suggested. This method utilizes statistical redundancy of video sequence caused by spatial and temporal correlation. The research has shown that the time of video sequence transmission can be reduced four times by uniting four frames of a video sequence and using 16-PSK signals for its transmission without noise stability loss compared to binary phase-shift keyed signals. The application of higher-order PSK signals to reduce the time of video sequence transmission is inadvisable since it is impossible to compensate for noise stability loss because of a limited amount of statistical redundancy in video data.
