In this paper we discuss the possibility of creating an information system aimed at providing operational remote sensing data for the tasks of monitoring volcanic activity in Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands. The paper provides a brief analysis of the experience in satellite techniques for monitoring volcanoes gained in recent decades. The available technical and technological capabilities, which can form the basis of the information system being developed, are analyzed. The paper describes the system architecture, the capabilities of current working prototype and perspectives of its further development. The examples of information products generated by the system are shown.
