Ten years of the annual all-Russian Open Conference «Current Problems In Remote Sensing of the Earth from Space»: the progress history and prospects

The article retraces the progress history of the conference «Current Problems In Remote Sensing of the Earth from Space» since 2003, when it was first held in IKI RAS, until the Tenth Anniversary conference organized in 2012. The main research directions are considered, whose results has been presented at the conference over the past ten years. It is emphasized that the number of algorithms and techniques in remote sensing of the Earth developed in recent years and brought to practical application has significantly increased. On the whole, reports represented at the conference adequately reflect the latest achievements in the field of remote sensing from space. The article presents yearly statistical data on the number of accepted papers and participants, organizations and countries they represented.
A special focus is traditionally dedicated to young researchers. Within the framework of the conference, since 2005, the young scholars annual workshop has been held, which has recently received the name of «All-Russia Young Scientists Workshop on Fundamental Problems in Remote Sensing of the Earth from Space».
Near-future prospects of the scientific forum are also discussed
