Presented are the calculation results of the fields of the atmospheric dynamic characteristics (horizontal wind speed, coefficient of mesoscale turbulent diffusion, vorticity) in the zones of action of tropical cyclone Katia (August-September 2011) and extra-tropical cyclone Xynthia (February 2010) determined at different stages of their development. For the calculations the data of multi-wave atmospheric sounding by the radiometer SEVIRI of the European geostationary satellite Meteosat-9 with the temporal resolution of 15 min were used. The peculiarities of the above-mentioned characteristics at different stages of cyclone development (including the transformation of the tropical cyclone into the extra-tropical one) were revealed.
Keywords: cyclones of tropical and extra-tropical latitudes, remote sensing, geostationary satellites, dynamic characteristics of the atmosphere
