To provide the precision calibration of the Earth observation instruments the new state primary special standard facility (SPSSF) was constructed and built in VNIIOFI during 2006-2009 and approved for operation in 2010. The SPSSF consists of 2 different facilities destined for calibration within the spectral ranges 0.3-3 μm and 3-25 μm. The SPSSF main features and the hierarchy scheme for the radiometric quantities measuring tools are described. The increasing of the calibration accuracy due to the new SPSSF is shown. The new trends in developing of the metrological assurance for the Earth observation instruments are discussed.
Keywords: measurement standard, hierarchy scheme, Earth observation instruments, radiometric calibration, radiance, spectral responsivity, accuracy, uncertainty
